Kozarev Confers with Representatives of the Parliament and Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Dušan Kozarev met today in Baku with Chairman of the Committee on International and Interparliamentary Relations of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samad Seyidov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fariz Rzayev, during his visit to Azerbaijan to attend the Conference on Missing Persons.

During the meetings, the friendly relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan, the high level of mutual understanding, and the two countries’ commitment to upholding the fundamental principles of international law were reaffirmed, along with their shared readiness to further advance the strategic partnership.

In his meeting with Seyidov, Kozarev discussed interparliamentary cooperation, mutual support within international parliamentary organisations, and opportunities to further intensify contacts. Kozarev emphasised that Serbia particularly values Azerbaijan’s principled position in support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

In his meeting with Deputy Minister Rzayev, discussions focused on current bilateral and multilateral issues, with particular emphasis on opportunities to further advance economic and energy cooperation. The two sides also exchanged views on international events of importance to both countries, including the Republic of Serbia’s participation in the International Defence Exhibition in Baku, where President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the Serbian stand.

The interlocutors noted that relations between the two countries have reached a historic high, underpinned by the personal friendship between Presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Ilham Aliyev.

Kozarev thanked Azerbaijan for announcing its participation in the Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade, emphasising that the event will provide an opportunity to showcase Azerbaijan in all its diversity to the Serbian public. He noted that its participation will carry additional symbolic significance, as the two countries will mark three decades of diplomatic relations next year.
